Camarillo Ranch's Holiday Season Runs on Weeknights This Year, Three Miles From Terra Bella

Most of the year, the Camarillo Ranch House follows a simple weekend schedule. Docents lead tours on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $5 cash, children 12 and under get in free, and you don't need a reservation. Between now and Christmas, the Ranch's two biggest occasions both break that schedule. One is a Sunday when the tours stop. The other is a pair of December weeknights.

If you live on Terra Bella Lane off Upland Road, the Ranch is close by. Google Maps routes 5884 Terra Bella Lane to 201 Camarillo Ranch Road in 3.2 miles and about 7 minutes by way of Mission Oaks Boulevard. A route along Upland Road and Mission Oaks Boulevard is only slightly longer at 3.3 miles. That makes a weeknight visit easy, and this year the weeknight visit is the main event.

The Weekend Tour Skips One Sunday

This Sunday, Oct. 25, the Camarillo Ranch Foundation hosts its Autumn Tea from 2 to 5 p.m. The Foundation's listing describes the afternoon this way:

"This catered event features traditional tea, petite sandwiches, fresh scones and dessert."

The regular house tours are canceled that day. The house tours page also warns that tours may not run on any special-event day. The Foundation names only Oct. 25 as canceled, so Saturday, Oct. 24, is listed as a regular tour day. Docents start the last tour at 1:15 p.m., so arriving at 1:45 gets you a closed door even though the posted hours run until 2.

That same Saturday, the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District holds Howl-O-Ween at Mission Oaks Dog Park. The event has a dog costume contest, activities, vendors and food. The park sits on the same Mission Oaks Boulevard route Google Maps uses to reach the Ranch, so you can fit a morning at the dog park and an 11 a.m. house tour into one short drive.

Two December Weeknights at the Ranch

The Foundation's events archive lists Christmas at the Ranch with Santa on Tuesday, Dec. 1, and Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. each night. The Foundation calls them its annual Santa Nights.

Detail What the Foundation lists
Dates Tuesday, Dec. 1, and Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2026
Hours 4 to 8 p.m.
Admission Free
Santa photo $20, taken by a professional photographer
House Holiday-decorated Camarillo Ranch House tour, with the Ranch Workers Exhibit
Red Barn Santa's Workshop
Music Victorian carolers
Shopping and food Local craft vendors, festive drinks and treats for purchase

One line on the Foundation's site doesn't match. The Dec. 2 event page says the event is "Held both Tuesday and Wednesday (Dec. 2 & 3)." In 2026, Dec. 2 is a Wednesday and Dec. 3 is a Thursday. Dec. 2 and 3 did fall on a Tuesday and Wednesday in 2025, so the line looks like it was carried over from last year. The archive's Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 listings match this year's Tuesday and Wednesday. Before you plan around the 4 p.m. start, a quick call or email to the Foundation will confirm which nights are right.

Holding the event on weeknights changes the visit. Doors open at 4 p.m. on a Tuesday, so the first hour overlaps with the end of the workday and the school day. December sunsets come early, so most of the four hours happen after dark, when the house and the Red Barn are lit for the season. With a 7-minute drive from Terra Bella Lane, you can get home after work and still reach the Ranch before the first carols.

What the Holiday Tour Still Carries From 2023

The detail most worth catching on the Santa Nights page is the house tour itself, which includes the Ranch Workers Exhibit.

The exhibit was planned as a short run. The Foundation's original listing for the Rancho Camarillo Workers Exhibit gave its dates as Sept. 10 to Dec. 23, 2023, and described it as honoring 60 years of ranch workers. Three years after its scheduled closing, it is still listed as part of the holiday house tour.

The exhibit grew out of volunteer research. The Acorn reported in August 2023 that a volunteer committee started the research by searching census records for as many workers' names as it could find. Ana Blattel, a docent and Foundation vice president, was interviewing the few workers from that period who were still living. After the opening, The Camarillo Acorn reported that the display fills one room of the 15-room house and includes a plaque naming roughly 40 worker families.

The two reports differ slightly on the years covered. The August story gives 1900 to 1950, and the September story gives 1890 to 1950. The later range matches the Foundation's "60 years" description. In both versions, the exhibit is about the people who worked the land around the house, which is the same land that later became the city around Upland Road.

The Foundation confirms the exhibit for the Santa Nights tour. It does not say whether the room stays on view during regular weekend tours. If seeing the exhibit is the reason for your visit, the two December weeknights are the dates the Foundation has put in writing.

The Rest of the Season Fills In Around Those Dates

The Ranch's dates fit into a busier town calendar, much of it run by the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District. Here are the dates in order from the day this post goes up:

  1. Friday, Oct. 23. PVRPD's Spooktacular Bash for adults 50 and older, with a costume contest and live music. A separate Spooky Swim runs that evening at Pleasant Valley Aquatic Center.
  2. Saturday, Oct. 24. Howl-O-Ween at Mission Oaks Dog Park, and a regular house tour day at the Ranch.
  3. Sunday, Oct. 25. Autumn Tea at Camarillo Ranch, 2 to 5 p.m. No house tours.
  4. Wednesday, Oct. 28. Halloween in the Park and Trunk or Treat at the Community Center.
  5. Monday, Nov. 16, through Saturday, Dec. 5. Letters to Santa at the Community Center.
  6. Tuesday, Dec. 1, and Wednesday, Dec. 2. Santa Nights at Camarillo Ranch, 4 to 8 p.m.
  7. Friday, Dec. 4. Bingo Bash at the Community Center.
  8. Saturday, Dec. 5. Cookies with the Clauses at the Camarillo Community Center.
  9. Saturday, Dec. 12. The 64th Camarillo Christmas Parade and Santa's Village, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Community Center Park, 1605 E. Burnley St.

The town's large holiday gatherings land on Saturdays. According to PVRPD's parade page, the parade route starts at Temple Avenue and Las Posas Road and ends at the Community Center. The Ranch's Santa Nights fall 10 and 11 days before the parade, on two weeknights. That spacing lets a household fit in both a Ranch evening and a parade morning without the two competing for the same weekend.

For Terra Bella, the Ranch is the nearer of the two. Mission Oaks Boulevard links the neighborhood to the dog park in October and to the Ranch's gate in December. Put Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 on the calendar now, and check the Foundation's site in late November for any update to the hours.
